I am so freaking confused. I had a 7th Gen Honda Civic five speed manual. and I got in the real world 37MPG on average on the highway it was better. I have no clue why we are having difficulty 22 years later making an engine run efficiently. Maybe if we stopped building vehicles that are 90 feet long. six feet high, and weigh 10,000 lbs we can get back to cars with decent fuel economy and simple to repair. No one wants this repair bill.

As an owner of E28 M5, E39 M5, E46 M3, and have had in the past E34 M5, E61 M5, E36 M3, etc in the past, and currently daily an F11 530d so I’m not just coming from a weekend car but also a daily aspect, let me settle this as the lines are starting to blur. The new 3 series is bigger than my E39 5 series!! How did we come to this?!?!!! If BMW made a M540 d/i like they do the M340 d/i. Got rid of the 2 screens [feels like I’m at my office staring at two screens] and went back to analogue dials, maybe with a digital map in between like Porsche do it on their 911 then that would solve the cockpit problem of the 5. And the 3. The 3 has more features in the cockpit and performance in the engine than the 5 in terms of comparing the best diesel derivatives as per that’s what I am looking at. Again. How the hell did this happen?! It always been the other way round. The M340d gives better performance and mpg than the 530d-535d. So the 5 should have the same if not more features as per both 6 cylinder engines. So if the 5 had that and more then that’s a good start. And got rid of the facelift 5 rear light. On this video they show the pre facelift which I like. Either go back to pre facelift. Or make the facelift more elegant. That fat bar light looks horrible. And whilst we talking about lights. What the hell is going on with the front lights. Is it too much to ask to go back to angels? Instead of the half hexagon-whatever they are?! Where do the designers come from?!?!! If all the above was addressed you would have the perfect car, thus the 5 would be better than the 3 in terms of long term driving, understated looks, being your daily, which is how it has historically been at BMW. Problem is we live in a world where everything is upside down. E.g. People are more concerned about pronouns in the workplace than they are about doing their job thus creating engineering marvels. In a sea of rainbow looking cars the G80 and G30 are still good looking cars. Granted they have their pros and cons. My daily has always been a 5. In diesel. Ideally touring. But for the first time I am looking at buying the 3, M340d touring as per it’s not that far off in dimensions from my current F11. And I feel after 2035 in the UK they not going to sell diesels any more, so if your really against the electric this would be the time to buy. But damn BMW u need to take a page out of Porsche’s book and stay true to your history.

I work for Nissan. I was part of the team who launched the VC-Turbo in the 3cyl and 4cyl configurations. While this being an industry first mass production VC engine, something not even the Big 3 could get right, Nissan persevered and brought it to life. This engine has changed the game. Ford and GM are now trying to copy the engine and capitalize off a success by Nissan. Yes Nissan faced challenges with the motor at first. Many challenges. But our teams analyzed and trouble shooted and solved them as the came. This engine is a very precise engine. Unlike regular motors where tolerances can vary on a decent spec of hundreds of micons, this engine not so much. I've had the honor to build one of these VC by hand, and its a real experience. Nissan, setting an industry standard with breakthroughs once again. Just as Nissan done with their PR engine. Nissan engines continue to be the worlds most sought after motor. For those who question the mileage life, I personally have a 2018 Altima with the 4cyl VC-TURBO and it hit 250,000 miles in 2023. The engine has minimal wear on it. Showing that once again the skilled teams at Nissan took an engine thought too difficult by the Big 3 to mass produce with a long reliable life span, and made it happen.

New seats are so basic and interior looks same as passat, without main interior grill looks very cheap 😢

I rode on of the 2018 ones when the first came out. I am used to litre bikes but wow, it was fast. I still have nightmares to this day.
